Bristol 138 A, Bill Matthews, 1/72 Frog kit

The Bristol 138 A is a military aircraft, though built purely as a record-breaker in the same way as the Schneider Cup winners.

The Bristol 138A set two altitude records in 1936-7, climbing to nearly 54,000 feet on its second attempt in June 1937. It is a Frog 1/72 scale kit with added engine and cockpit detail.
