TWA DC-2, Hugh Beyts, 1/144 CMR Kit
The resin and white metal castings are very nice but the cockpit transparencies were not so good. These I replaced with separate panels which took about three attempts but was worth it. I deepened the cabin windows which were a bit shallow and then used the kit windows rotated 90 degrees about their longitudinal axis, they were very thick! The excess was left proud and sanded and polished flush with micro mesh. I added the nose lights, intakes & pitot tube which are so obvious on the DC2. Aerial is from lycra thread and could be stretched more to look thinner. Silver finish was Alclad II. Unfortunately, I rushed things to make it ready for SMW 2007 and stripped off paint around the windows and wing tips. It's not good to rush these things!
